These VETUS rudder position indicators provide, by means of electronics, a display of the rudder position on the indicating unit. They consist of a sending unit, complete with an adjustable transmission arm and ball joints, and one or two (dual steering position) read-out instruments. The sending unit model RFU 1718 may be connected to either one or two read-out instruments as shown here. It is possible to connect two indicating units of different size.

- The indicating unit may also be connected to the rudder position sensor of the VETUS automatic pilot, type AP2S.
