How to Identify if you have a right-handed or left-handed toilet
When you are sat on the toilet inside the caravan or motorhome, if the wall to the outside of the caravan/motorhome is on your left then you have a left-handed toilet. If the exterior wall is on your right then it is a right-handed toilet. (Please note that the photo may not be the correct handed part)

Hi there ,We have in our caravan one of your cassette toilets. It's a C2 and going on the diagram in the back of the booklet it's a model 2,if that makes any difference. The last time we used our caravan and I came to empty the cassette(placed on a watermaster) while going to the waste station, waste was leaking from every seal. The next time I went to our local caravan shop I nearly bought one of your "fresh up sets" but noticed on the box it stated "for models from 1994" .What I need to know, will this fresh up kit fit into my 1990 toilet?

i need a replacement c2 cassette for my self built motorhome as mine leaks from every seal all the replacements are grey where as mine is white. will the grey ones fit where an original white one was ? i have no idea of age of toilet other than it is old

Yes the newer grey cassette will fit. It is more economical to fit the Thetford Fresh-up kit, our ref 138194.

Wondered if anyone can help....our c2 thetford manual loo has been great, but this weekend I thought, drain time to avoid frost damage etc..Took the loo to empty it and had a stream of blue loo etc coming out of a hole in the tank body just next to the manual blade handle .I've brought it home to have a look and nothing has come adrift, just a rubber seal at bottom of hole but its straight through, like missing something or been punched through..If the loo is emptied when less than half full its no problems but wondered if i need a new cassette or can I buy a seal.....Cheers peeps.

There should be a float inside that seals against the rubber seal. It appears that the float has become dislodged. This arrangement was never very satisfactory and has been changed on later units. Not a nice job to attempt to replace the float in its correct position.
If you wish to replace the cassette then the best value comes in the 'Fresh-up' kit, our ref. 138194 with which you get a new toilet seat as well.

hi tom can i ask a question. i have a 1996 vanroyce although the toilet works fine the knob that open and closes the seal flap it is very hard to turn and my wife really struggles to turn it, i have lubricated the seal with olive oil. what is causing the tightness?? when the cassette is out the knob is free and easy to turn and springs back to close position so the mechanism seems ok. the oblong knob on the cassette is very hard to turn, i have also unscrewed the seal assembly and lubricated the mechanism, can you suggest anything please Regards,

This is possibly caused by wear on the cassette itself and is not easy or desirable to repair. You may wish to consider a 'Fresh-up set' which is the cheaper way of buying a new cassette.

I think that you require a C2 holding tank which is now part of 'Fresh-up' kit 138194, and is cheaper than buying the holding tank alone.

how do i know what handed toilet cassette to buy for my caravan?

When you are sitting on the toilet, if the outside wall is on your right hand side, then you need a right hand cassette. If you buy the Fresh-up kits such as part 138194 then the cassette can be adapted to suit either hand of toilet.

I have a 1990 C2 cassette toilet (Electric flush). There is a problem with the "Automatic holding tank Vent" in that the contents spill out when the cassette is carried vertically. Is there a repair kit? does the C2,3,4 Refresh kit cassette fit my C2 as the photo on the box shows a slightly different cassette, ie. no vent hole, and a sliding cover over the valve blade.

There has always been a problem with contents of the holding tank leaking as the rubber seals wear. The problem will probably be with item 129417 which is part of an assembly that has proved unsatisfactory.
The new refresh kit will fit your toilet and has been modified to correct this leakage problem.

I was delighted with my new Thetford Toilet Fresh Up Set C2. I suspected my current cassette and toilet seat were original and possibly 26 years old! How nice now to have a cassette that doesn't leak, a sluice gate that opens freely again and a handle to transport the full cassette to the chemical waste disposal facilities. I required a R/H unit, this wasn't shown on the Leisure Shop site. But the ever so helpful sales lady soon sorted me out with a link to the required product. Thanks to all concerned, I am one very happy customer!

Once I had the reversing worked out (to take it from LH to RH using the basic flow chart provided) the rest was very straightforward. This was a rather expensive way to resolve a worn blade assembly given that although I was able to source the spares I couldn't work out how to split the tank to fit them. Fit & finish exactly as the original tank.

Our motor is nearly 20 years old and therefore so is the toilet. While away I've wondered if it was possible to replace it so I went online and researched. The Thetford toilet Fresh-up set was on the the Leisureshop Direct website so I ordered it in the hope that it would arrive in time for our next outing. Sure enough it did and we now have a brand new, wholesome toilet, unlike the tired and tatty one it replaced. I/we are delighted with the product and the price, so if anyone is considering replacing theirs then I suggest that they do it.

Regarding contact with customer, this seller is amazing, especially when I received an email letting me know within the hour the time of delivery of parcel. The Thetford toilet C4 cassette/toilet seat came in 1st class new condition. Did try to fit it, no go, then realised it was set up for a LEFT hand side fitting. Read the handbook 1st! Having changed fitting positions, as per handbook, no more problems. Can only recommend this supplier.
