Get away to rural areas this summer, expert says

Posted by Linda Davidson

The upcoming London Olympic Games could give keen caravanners with a Truma caravan water heater the chance to get out and see things across the country.

Whether that be an event as part of the Games or something away from the action, there are plenty of activities on offer, according to a representative from the Camping and Caravanning Club.

Jon Dale, PR manager at the organisation which manages 109 campsites across the UK, said that for those wishing to get away from the inner-city action, rural areas can provide an enjoyable alternative.

"Some of our most popular destinations include the Lake District, the Peak District and Derbyshire and the south-west of England during the school holidays," he added.

Mr Dale also mentioned that the club's Carefree Travel Service enables those with devices and accessories for your campervan to go further afield to European countries like France, where a warmer climate will be most enjoyable.

According to a representative from the national tourist board VisitEngland, families can find many attractions to visit for little or no money around the country such as museums, parks and galleries.
