NCC predicts strong year for caravanning

Posted by Freddy Morton

The National Caravan Council has predicted that 2011 will be a good year for the caravanning industry.

However, the organisation has urged caravan park groups to continue investing in infrastructure, customer services, websites and marketing to try and beat off competition for the tourist pound.

The organisation revealed that caravanners and would-be caravanners were out in force at recent industry shows in Manchester and Glasgow.

Consumers were looking for the latest Smev caravan hobs and cookers, Truma caravan water heaters and other caravan accessories.

Alicia Dunne, deputy director general of the National Caravan Council (NCC), said that booking at caravan parks are anticipated to be up on figures from last year.

However she added: "Caution remains the watchword - but the opportunities for growth throughout the industry remain firmly in place. [The NCC is] quietly optimistic."

Jon Dale, publicity manager for the Camping and Caravanning Club, recently revealed that booking at the club's sites are up by around 20 per cent on the same time last year.
