Pickering caravan park set for expansion

Posted by Linda Davidson.

Caravan refrigeration owners will be interested to hear that a caravan park in Pickering will get the go-ahead to expand as part of a scheme to boost the local economy.

According to the Gazette & Herald, Black Bull Caravan Park will convert some of its grassland into a park equipped to accommodate 30 touring caravans.

Access roads, lighting and play areas will also be added to the site, which currently holds 36 static caravans and 75 tent and tourer pitches.

Rachel Smith, a local planning officer, said the expansion would likely prove a boost to other businesses in the area, like pubs and tourist spots.

SBA consultants of Malton, said in a report that there was a need for "high-quality tourist- based accommodation", the newspaper said. The consultancy said being in a landscaped area would help bring economic activity to the area.

Caravan refrigeration owners heading to the North Yorkshire town of Pickering may also like to visit Richmond, recently praised for offering a wealth of things to do.
