Brits, including those with Truma Caravan water heaters, are continuing their love affair with the staycation, according to Sarah Long, spokesperson for VisitEngland.
Her comments follow figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), which show that there was an increase in UK tourism in April 2011, with 2.7 million people entering the UK, up from 2.29 million in the same month last year.
VisitEngland suggested that the UK is as popular with home-grown holidaymakers as it is with foreign visitors.
Ms Long said: "We know from our 'staycation' research that the trend to holiday at home is certainly here to stay and over half the population plan to take more breaks in the UK than they did in the past."
She added that there are a host of great reasons to stay in the UK for a break this year, including "fantastic food and drink establishments, amazing countryside, great cities and some fantastic events".
