York offers caravanners fun-filled events

Posted by Linda Davidson

Caravan water heaters owners looking to get away this year may wish to take a trip to one of the many caravan sites in the York area and take part in a number of fun-filled events taking place during 2011.

People hoping to take in some history may wish to visit the Jorvik Viking Festival, which will be held in the city later this month, as it offers a real insight to the past.

Gillian Cruddas, chief executive of Visit York, said: "Europe's most haunted city will then be embracing its ghostly ancestors for Spooksfest in March," which is bound to attract thrill seekers and those interested in the paranormal.

Ms Cruddas also recommended a trip to the York Open Studios in April as artists will be throwing open their doors to the public and there will also be an exciting season of horse-racing kicking off at York Racecourse in May.

It was recently announced by Welcome to Yorkshire that a series of courses would be on offer to tourism industries throughout the county to help improve visitor interaction.
