5 Technical Questions on the Straight coupler 5/16" compression

Question

what is the correct fitting to use when connecting the gas line to a Truma e4000 heater
 on

Answer

This would require a 8mm or 5/16" compression fitting, our ref 226861 or 226863. You must use copper pipe inside the vehicle.

Question

I have a smev PI1262 hob & grill but no fitting or installation instructions. Are you able to email me them or tell me where I can get them? Neil
 on

Answer

Sorry, do not have any fitting instructions but this is fairly straightforward. Hob would be fitted into a suitable cut aperture in a work surface while providing a metal box construction underneath to accept the heat from the grill. Connect to 8mm copper gas piping with a suitable straight connector such as our part 126861 (8mm equivalent)

Question

Hi Tom. My campervan conversion came with a Smev 8000 series hob, connected to a nearby Camping Gaz bottle by an 800mm rubber hose. At the hob, the hose was simply pushed over the plain 8mm pipe and secured with a jubilee clip. I don't think this is safe! What is the safe way of making this connection? Is there an appropriate compression fitting? Thanks!

Answer

Current regulations do not allow rubber tubing inside a vehicle except in a sealed gas box. You should have a straight connector 126861 at the cooker and then copper pipe, ref. 126552, to the cylinder. At the cylinder end of the copper pipe you will need a fulham nozzle part 125312. Make sure that the copper pipe is securely fixed to the wall of the vehicle.
To meet current regulations the gas cylinder should be in a metal box sealed from the interior of the vehicle but with high and low level ventilation to the outside. It is normal to have a bulkhead nozzle through the wall of the box, part 148384.

Question

hi id like to order some gas 8m pipe code 126552 and require a straight connector but don't know which one I would require , also on the other end I intend to put a Widney fire that I have but need the nut adapter to fit the 8m pipe on to the fire ,if you can help many thanks chris buxton

Answer

8mm and 5/16" connectors are compatible so the straight connector is our ref. 126861. At the other end of the pipe you will require nut 150102 and olive 131428.

Question

Hi,i i have a SMEV Series 8000 2-Burner Build-In Hob and Black Glass Lid with piezo Ignition and i am wanting to know what pipe i use to connect to my gas bottle
 on

Answer

From the hob you must use 8mm (5/16") copper pipe to the gas compartment. In the gas compartment you will have a 5/16" gas nozzle to connect to the regulator on the gas bottle via a short length of 8mm rubber gas hose suitably clamped at both ends.
