The Alde 3030 Compact high efficiency combi boiler is ideal for central heating systems in boats, motorhomes, caravans and portable cabins. It provides 8.7 kW of heat through up to 14 m of aluminium convector with 93% SEDBUK-based efficiency. The boiler gives you luxurious heating that is clean and economical, with unrivalled silent, high performance, reliability, and comfort. Powered by LPG and/or 230 V electricity.

All system connections are on one side, allowing the unit to be installed in the smallest of spaces, and the flexible flue means you can position the boiler and terminal where you want. The control panel cable has Registered Jack connectors making the job of installing the boiler easier and safer, but once it's in the boiler has no service requirement. For motor vehicles, why not invest in the additional engine heat exchanger, so you can transfer engine heat into your central heating system while on the move, making use of all that free energy!

All boilers are pre-fitted with flow assembly (automatic air bleed valve and non-return valve) and red and blue water connectors. The Alde 3030 Compact HE combi boiler comes with a 12 V inline circulation pump, for improved all-round performance. (This does not include the optional installation kit which contains 12 V lead, control panel and cable (9 m), side or roof flue terminal, exhaust and air intake hoses and clips, expansion tank and cover, non-return valve, and safety drain valve, red and blue water pipe, rubber elbow, and 12–15 mm Speedfit connector, please see below options of side or roof flue kit)

All connections – fluids, gas and electricity – are located on the long side. This makes it easy to install and service the Alde Compact 3030 HE. The installation dimensions will also be minimal as there are three sides which are completely free.

Inside the metal surround of the Alde Compact 3030 HE is the LPG powered burner which works with two output steps depending on the output needed. All of the Compact 3030 HE models are equipped with two 230 V electric elements with a maximum output of 3150 W. The hot water heater in the boiler is of storage type and can hold more than 10 litres of fresh water.

Control of the boiler is via a processor on the boiler’s circuit board. Alde Compact 3030 HE can be connected to most models of Truma AC and therefore give full climate control. The Alde Compact 3030 HE can generally be installed wherever you want. Either inside the living space, such as e.g. in a wardrobe or stowage space, or installed outside in any storage area or in a space between floors.

Release of exhaust gas and intake of air can either be via a sidemounted flue or one fitted on the roof.

What is the difference between the Alde 3020 Boiler and the Alde 3030 Boiler?

The Alde Compact 3030 has four new main features:

  • Integrated 2-zone system
  • 20% larger hot water capacity (10 Litres)
  • New user interface in control panel
  • Expanded capability of Alde Intelligent Climate Technology (ICT)

Multi-zone system
Users of caravan´s and motorhomes have distinct temperature preferences, with some family members preferring it 20 degrees while others prefer a slightly lower or higher temperature. With Alde new multi-zone technology, you can set the temperature in two zones and thus improve comfort for the whole vehicle.

A multi-zone system can also help you save energy usage. Whereas a single zone system emits heat to bring the entire vehicle to a one desired temperature, multi-zone system only emits heat in the zone you specify. You can set seating area zone to a higher temperature, ideal for watching TV and socializing, whilst keeping your bedroom zone at a cooler, lower temperature, ready for sleeping.

This is why Alde has developed a completely new system with the possibility of two heating zones. The system is installed with separate heating circuits for each zone, giving you control like two rooms in a house.
Alde 3030 Multizone System

20% larger hot water capacity
Interest in caravanning and motorcamping has increased significantly in recent years, putting demand on campsite places and facilities. And as a result of Covid-19, more people are using their on-board showers and dinettes. Hot water performance has never been more important to our end users.

To meet this demand, we have increased the capacity of the hot water cylinder from today’s 8.5 liters to approximately 10 litres, around +20%. This makes navy showers easier and hair washing less hurried.

New control panel User Interface
Alde heating system is controlled via our classic touchscreen control panel. Coinciding with the launch of the Compact 3030, we are upgrading the control panel with new, more intuitive user interface. In addition to controlling the two optional heating zones, we have designed a label-driven interface to make functions more self-explanatory.

Alde Intelligent Climate Technology (ICT) Enhancements
At Alde we are constantly developing and refining the computation that works in the background of our heating system. We aim to perfect the end customers’ indoor climate comfort through the use of intelligent driver software. In the Alde Compact 3030 we have further improved this Alde Intelligent Climate Technology, including smart functions like:

  • More use of telemetry from discrete room and outdoor temperature sensors.
  • Rebalanced energy optimisation based on power source priority.
  • Smoother heating curve based on latest insulation and LAV design trends.
  • Automatic climate control compatible with widest range of Truma A/C systems (Only compatible with Truma Air Conditioning)

Alde Compact 3030 HE Boiler construction

  • The boiler’s internal heat exchanger consists of three concentric cylinders; the combustion chamber, the central heating cylinder and the hot water cylinder. The combustion chamber is made from aluminium, and is divided into two halves by a baffle plate, with the burner head located in the top half, and the flue gases venting through the bottom half.
  • The combustion assembly is fixed to the end of the internal heat exchanger. It consists of the burner, combustion fan, gas valve, air intake and exhaust ducts, and gas line.
  • Two electric heating elements are sealed inside the central heating cylinder, one for 1 kW, one for 2 kW.
  • The room thermostat is integrated into the touchscreen control panel and connected to the boiler by a Registered Jack (RJ) cable.
  • Gas fittings are not included with the boiler.

19 FAQs on the Alde 3030 Compact HE Combi Boiler

Can I use tap water to mix with my antifreeze to add to my Alde Heating System?
No - Only deionised water should be used. Tap water should be avoided whenever possible as it can cause corrosion.
Why do I have to replace my Antifreeze in my Alde System?
After its recommended lifespan, the qualities of the fluid will degrade.

The qualities of the Alde G13 antifreeze are;
1. Antifreeze - at a 50/50 ratio it can perform down to -34C;
2. Coolant - The Alde Heating system is a balanced controlled system, the coolant is vital in removing the heat away from surfaces.
3. Corrosion Protection - Very important to keep your system running at it's optimal performance.
4. Bacterial Protection -This prevents microbe activity building up in your system. As the fluid degrades down to a 27% ratio then the antifreeze & coolant loses its quality which will result in cooling issues. At 20% ratio there will be bacterial growth where micro-organisms can build up in your system resulting in a fishy/rubbery smell in your system. At 10% ratio there is 100% chance that there will be bacterial growth!
Why does my Alde system smell of fish / have a rubbery smell?
This is a result of too low concentration of the antifreeze fluid. If the levels get down to 20% concentration then the protection is very low and micro-organisms will build up in the system causing this smell. The only option to rectify this is a total flush out of the system. Alde do provide this service at their Wellingborough Workshop or your contact your local dealer.
I keep getting Overheat Red on my Alde Heating system control panel?
This is likely that you have a too strong ratio of the antifreeze or too weak. We recommend replacing the antifreeze well within its lifespan with Alde G13 antifreeze. If you leave it too long then the antifreeze will degrade resulting in overheating issues. Also, if you have mixed the antifreeze with water yourself and the ratio is more than 65% then this again will result in overheating issues.
I have to replace my Alde 3010 Compact because the boilertank has burst. I am interested in the Alde Compact 3030 with any additional parts to make a new installation? I guess i will keep the header tank with the circulation pump and exhaust pipe going up through roof.
You would need the flue kit, product ref. 260020 or 260021.

You are unlikely to be able to reuse your existing flue hose, the material and diameter should be different. The existing expansion tank could also be quite brittle and might split when the pipes are jostled.

Other than that, you would need the Alde 3030 Compact HE boiler itself, product ref 259779.

You will also need some plumbing fittings for the central heating pipes and fresh water pipes, but this will be dependant on what bore or material your pipework is, or how it's been laid.
I have an Alde 3030 fitted in my new motorhome. Do you have any tips?
Here is some important information that you should know:

- Do not run the system dry, empty of antifreeze solution. The boiler will be damaged beyond repair.
- Do not use greywater or desalinated water in the fresh water system. Only use potable drinking water to avoid corrosion of the stainless steel.
- Do not use a sterilising or winterising chemical in the fresh water system unless it is suitable for use with stainless steel. Puriclean by Clean Tabs is recommended.
- Do not rely on the central heating to prevent the fresh water from freezing, even if living in the vehicle. Always drain down for winter unless the vehicle is explicitly stated to be self-winterising.
- Do not mix incompatible antifreeze. Either top up with the same spec antifreeze, or use VAG G12++ or G13 Spec.
- Do not use hard water to mix the antifreeze solution. Deionised water is recommended.
- Do not dispose of antifreeze in any way except in accordance with PPG19, it is against the law.
- Do not open the bleed screws whilst the circulation pump is active. Air may be sucked into the system.
- Do not obstruct the air vents in the boiler compartment. The thermal fuse might cut out.
- Do not use gas heating whilst driving. Even with a crash sensor regulator fitted. Gas heating must be off when pulling into a fuel station.
- Do not rely on gas heating at high altitude. LPG combustion and performance is impeded above 1500 metres by the Laws of Nature. 3020 boilers in 2017 leisure vehicles have a High Altitude Mode on the control panel.
I have an Alde 3030 heating system and there is no central heating.
Here are some things to check:

• The system is air locked. Bleed and test antifreeze solution
• Hot water boost is activated. Allow vehicle to warm up before activating
• Insufficient power selected. If using electric heating, check 230 V supply, and use both electric and gas heating in winter
• The circulation pump is defective
My Alde system in my motorhome has no hot water
Here are some things to check:

• Continuous pumping is activated. Reset control panel
• Insufficient power selected. If using electric heating, check 230 V supply, and use both electric and gas heating in winter
My Alde 3030 boiler won’t heat on 230 V electric
Here are some things to check:

• The 230 V electric is not plugged in
• A circuit breaker has tripped
• 13 A or 16 A fuse in 230 V consumer unit is blown
• The isolating switch/fused spur is off or defective
• Connection between boiler and vehicle’s 230 V wiring is defective
My Alde boiler system is non-responsive— boiler is cold, control panel is blank.
Here are some things to check:

• No 12 V supply to boiler or control panel
• The control panel is not plugged in
• T3.15 A 20 mm fuse(s) in boiler blown.
• 5 A fuse in 12 V consumer unit is blown
• The thermal fuse on PCB has sprung (3010 only)
• The leisure battery is defective
• The battery charger is defective
I am thinking of installing an Alde 3030 boiler. What general maintenance and consumables are there?
The vendor should provide a maintenance schedule, though the following can be assumed:
The ethylene glycol antifreeze is a consumable and will need replacing before its protection expires. Most UK OEMs use silicate-containing antifreeze with 2-year protection from new.

Seasonally inspect the boiler's flue hoses. Check that the hoses are still secured and undamaged, and that they're clear and unobstructed.
When in constant use, completely drain and refill the fresh water system once a month.

Safety and emissions tests should be carried out in accordance with local codes and regulations.
I have an Alde 3010 fitted to my Motorhome. Propane or butane – what type of LPG (liquid petroleum gas) should I use?
Propane. Alde recommend the use of propane in all Alde systems within the UK.

BS 5482 Part 1 states, "For butane cylinders, satisfactory service might not be obtained at temperatures of less than 10 °C; the most suitable temperature range is from 13 to 30 °C. For temperatures less than 13 °C, the use of propane should be considered."

Propane will operate down to -42 °C and is more suitable for the British climate.
How much gas should the Alde 3020 or Alde 3030 heating system consume?
Varies. The two-stage burner is computer controlled. By default, the system will prioritise electric heating over gas heating, for example, and will only fire on one stage of the gas burner to maintain fluid temperature.

Generally, when running on gas in the British climate, a 6 kg bottle of propane should last all weekend.
How much 12 V current does the Alde 3020 or Alde 3030 heating system draw?
There are many different circulation pumps fitted to Alde 3010, 3020 and 3030 Compact systems, each drawing different amounts of 12 V current (some even use 230 V mains). As a general rule, the system will draw around 1 A.
Can I operate my Alde central heating while the fresh water is drained down?
Yes, operate the boiler normally.
If I buy an Alde 3030, how quickly should the living space warm up?
Varies greatly, but when using sufficient power, generally the living space will reach 19 °C to 24 °C within the hour, similar to the warm up time in a household central heating system.

How do I get the best performance from the system in my vehicle?

Ensure the heating circuit is bled of air (it should be correctly filled using a genuine Alde 1900-811 service pump). Ensure that vents in the furniture are not blocked. Use the maximum power electric heating and gas heating (propane only). Take showers after the central heating has brought the living space up to temperature. Don't allow the temperature in the living space to drop below 10 °C if out for the day/night.
How much hot water does the Alde 3020 or Alde 3030 system produce?
The Alde 3010 and 3020 Compact boilers use a store of 8.4 litres of hot water at >50 °C. The Alde 3030 has a slightly larger 10 litre tank. When mixed at the fixture to a usable 38 °C, this amounts to ˜12 litres of heated water every 30 mins. Cold water <10 °C will take longer to heat.

The Hot Water Boost function cuts out the central heating for 30 mins while another 8.4 litres of hot water is heated to >65 °C. This amounts to ˜15 litres of heated water, mixed. Assuming an average flow rate of 3 litres per minute, this gives ˜5 minutes of continuous heated water for showers.

This can also be used to kill Legionella bacteria if the system has been standing unused for a spell.
(Legionella bacteria dies within 2 mins at 65 °C.)
On my Alde 3030, how do I get hot water without central heating?
Set the desired temperature to well below ambient on the digital control panel.

Since the Alde 3010. 3020 and 3030 Compact are combi boilers, they heat both central heating fluid and hot water simultaneously.

If the desired temperature is set ˜5 °C below ambient on the digital control panel, the central heating will cut out— the heating fluid will not be circulated to the convectors and the living space will not be warmed.

Hot water is still readily available and the central heating will still cut in if the ambient temperature drops below that desired.
What antifreeze should I use with Alde boilers?
Most of the caravan/motorhome manufacturers in the UK supply their vehicles filled with 2 year antifreeze. This is normally blue; however please check with your manufacturer.

If topping up your system, or replacing the fluid in your system, we advise the use of Alde G13 spec antifreeze as this is backwardly compatible with any pre-existing antifreeze in your system. The main benefit is that it has a 5 year corrosion/frost protection, saving you time and money in the future.

The fluid in your system should be a mix of 50% antifreeze and 50% deionised water. This will provide optimum protection down to -37°C. (The strength of your fluid can be tested with a refractometer or hydrometer).
