The Dometic CoolFreeze CFX 40 is a powerful cooler for refrigeration or freezing. With its high-performance compressor technology and extra thick insulation, this cooler is impressively quiet and efficient while being able to withstand the most demanding of loads thanks to its robust design. On top of all this, the CFX 40 is remarkably lightweight and easy to transport.

This is the most efficient 12V compressor coolbox on the market. This uses upto 35% less power consumption than any other box on the market today.

At an operating temperature of -22°C and an outside temperature of upto 32°C the CFX40 has a current consumption of 0.3Ah/h. This equates to using a normal 80Ah leisure battery for 222 hours or 9 days....amazing!!

The CFX40 is a robust 38 litre (including 7.0 litre crisper) high quality fridge and freezer. It runs on 12V/24V & 240V and is one of the most powerful compressor coolers on the market. It has a A++ energy rating and will deep freeze temperatures down to -22°C. It is fully controlled from the digital display and has a temperature range from +10°C to -22°C.

This is designed to last and has a number of robust features. The CFX40 has reinforced corners, stainless steel hinges and a very strong lid lining with a super-strong closing mechanism. Despite this it is remarkably lightweight and easy to transport with its space-saving folding and detachable carrying handles. It has a cooling compartment with wire basket and separate crisper for fruit and vegetables; the wire basket can even be divided using a grid divider.

WHERE DOES THE DOMETIC CFX 40W GET ITS IMMENSE POWER?
Compressor cooling technology, used in Dometic's CFX series, offers unrivalled cooling power. But how does it work? Well, it relies on a refrigerant that changes from a liquid to gaseous state in the evaporator. The evaporation process extracts heat from the interior of the cooling unit, causing the temperature to drop. The compressor draws in the refrigerant, compresses it and passes it on to the condenser. From here, the absorbed heat is released into the atmosphere. The refrigerant liquefies and flows back to the evaporator, where the cycle begins again. The result of this is an excellent cooling performance, capable of deep-freezing, even at extreme ambient temperatures.

Firstly, there’s the CFX Special Electronics which include an intelligent automatic turbo cooler and memory function. Top of the range Dometic Coolfreeze CFX Electronics
Dometic have taken a great deal of care with the design and development of the electronics only used in the CFX series. It is designed to be as energy efficient as possible. When the Dometic CFX40
starts up the compressor is gently started to save energy. If the desired temperature is not met within an expected short period of time, there is a turbo cooler which then comes on automatically to boost the compressor speed until the pre-set temperature is reached. Once met, the software and electronics switches the compressor back into energy-saving mode.

The Technical Bit
A concentrated ammonia solution is heated in a boiler and expelled as vapour. The pressurised ammonia gas is then liquefied in a condenser. Supplied with hydrogen, it evaporates and in the process extracts heat from the storage container. The ammonia gas then enters the absorber where it is reabsorbed in a weak solution of ammonia. Finally, the saturated solution flows back to the boiler where the whole cycle starts again.

The Technical Bit
The thermoelectric principle was discovered by J. C. A. Peltier, which is why the temperature generating parts of thermoelectric systems are referred to as Peltier elements. Thermoelectrics are based on the fact that cold or heat energy (depending on the polarity) is generated when a DC current is conducted between different types of metal. The heating or cooling capacity is further enhanced by heat exchangers and air fans. Ideal for low and medium cooling volumes.
