Motorists encouraged to nominate worst road in the UK

Posted by Greg Throughton

Caravanners who spend time travelling around the UK will be best placed to join a new Potholes.co.uk and Daily Telegraph initiative.

The partnership is encouraging motorists to put forward their nominations for the worst road in the UK, as part of a new campaign to highlight the poor condition of the nation's roads.

"We've no doubt we are going to draw attention to some extremely shoddy roads - and as a country we should be ashamed of them," said Duncan McClure Fisher of Warranty Direct, the company behind Potholes.co.uk.

Two categories covering major and local roads have been created and the aim is to name and shame the locations which cause mass disruption for Seitz caravan rooflights owners heading on a caravan holiday.

The government recently pledged an extra £100 million to fund the repair of the UK's roads, which many motoring experts believe is not enough.

According to the AA, £9.5 billion would be needed to return all of the roads in the UK to perfect working order.
