2012 will be great for British holidays, expert states

Posted by Greg Throughton

Keen caravanners who own Reich caravan taps may be planning to visit parts of Britain this year, as one expert has deemed 2012 a "fantastic" year for the staycation.

A representative from VisitEngland, the national tourist board for the country, suggested there are plenty of things to visit year-round and that many places are practical for when the weather is not so good.

Laura Smith, destination public relations manager at the tourism organisation, said: "There is a whole range of things to do to suit all ages and personalities. If rain has stopped a zoo visit, you could consider an aquarium."

She explained that families could take an invigorating walk on the beach followed by a traditional pub lunch to really experience the British way of holidaying.

Torch Relay and Cultural Olympiad events as well as the Queen's Golden Jubilee are sure to come with a host of things to see and do, Ms Smith added.

Jon Dale, PR manager at the Camping and Caravanning Club, recently commented that people wanting to escape the busyness of the Olympics this summer could head to rural parts of England such as the Lake District and the Peak District.
