A road project to install traffic light 'could cause disruption on M1'

Holidaymakers using Dometic caravan refrigeration may experience some delays on the M1 in Yorkshire if they are planning to travel around the country in the run-up to Christmas.

The Highways Agency has revealed that a "key" project to improve the traffic flow at the slip roads joining the A636 Denby Dale Road for Denby Dale or Wakefield by installing a new traffic signalling system.

Work begun on December 5th and is scheduled to go on until February next year with short breaks for bank holidays over the festive period.

"This scheme will make the roundabout far more efficient and safer by regulating competing flows," project sponsor Sujad Hussain said.

"Every effort is being made to ensure any inconvenience to drivers."

He added that diversions will be put in place to ensure that road users can take a different route to get to their final destination.

Traffic lights will also be installed on the M1 junction 33 for Catcliffe to ease the pressure of queues and minimise delays for drivers in the area.
