App helps caravan owners find a park

Posted by Freddy Morton

Owners of Cramer caravan hobs and cookers planning a trip to Australia now have a handy tool at their disposal.

Following an increase in the number of caravans manufactured by almost a third over the last year, an iPhone app has been launched to help tourists in Australia find somewhere to stay, the West Australian reported.

Find A Park negates the need for maps and brochures that take up the limited space available on a caravan.

Using the inbuilt GPS, the app can locate the nearest park, as well as allowing users to search by state, town or site name.

Travellers can also make reservations and get directions with the app, the source reported.

"The Australian RV [caravan] market is now dominated by those 30-49 year olds who are technologically savvy. The group wants up-to-the-minute information in the palm of their hand which Find A Park can give them," said app developer David Holland.

Caravan owners may also be interested in an app by Volvo which allows them to lock and unlock their car, check the dashboard, ponder a location and even gives off an alert if the alarm is sounded, all remotely no matter how far away the vehicle is.
