Appeal of using a pre-paid travel money card

Posted by Linda Davidson

When it comes to taking a motorhome across Europe for a well-deserved summer holiday, Brits have been advised to keep a pre-paid travel money card close to their caravan water heaters.

David Bain, spokesperson for FairFX, believes that such an item could be the best way for holidaymakers to carry cash when journeying abroad this year.

"It is safer, more secure and it locks in the current exchange rates and you can get outstanding value," he pointed out.

Another benefit of stocking up goods to place in caravan refrigeration via a pre-paid money card is ease of use, Mr Bain acknowledged.

This is particularly seen when getting more cash onto plastic, as it simply requires logging onto a website and requesting to top up the card with more funds, which is then available to spend within hours.

The expert's advice comes after Sainsbury's Travel Money recently found that £14.2 billion is withdrawn from foreign ATMs by Brits journeying abroad each year.
