Are staycations a false economy?

Posted by Linda Davidson

Staycations could be a false economy, people planning excursions with their Morco caravan water heaters have been told.

A recent poll has revealed that one in five families have not yet booked their summer holiday, with the majority claiming that they were waiting to see if they had enough job security to go away.

Furthermore, another study by the Express found that the average cost of entertaining children for the six-week summer holiday period is around £2,000.

I Spy Camping has therefore concluded that staying at home may cost more than taking a holiday this summer.

"The real message is that getting away this summer does not need to be expensive, if you know where to look," explained Will Goodridge, I Spy Camping founder.

He said that there are several low-cost options, including camping holidays in France, as many destinations have large pool complexes, sports facilities and even horse riding centres.

The company cited Aluna Vacances from Sunelia as its number one hidden camping gem in France.
