Caravan park in Spittal to expand

Caravan taps owners may be interested to hear that a holiday park in Spittal is planning to expand and increase its number of caravans by 40 per cent.

Elm Bank Coastal Retreat, which is home to 130 static caravan pitches is planning to introduce a further 51 on the site.

The firm has already submitted its application to Northumberland County Council.

Speaking to the Berwick Advertiser, planning consultant Ian Butter said: "The existing site has been undergoing upgrading and improvement works over the last four years that have brought about both a reduction in pitch density and an elevation in the quality of the holiday experience on the site."

He added that Elm Bank Coastal Retreat is attempting to boost tourism to the area by providing "upgraded and improved holiday accommodation".

A previous application was rejected by Berwick Borough Council, because of the proximity of the planned caravan site to houses on the Eastcliffe estate, the news provider reports.

Meanwhile, a new caravan park is being planned for Church Stretton.
