Caravan park set to double its touring pitches

Posted by Linda Davidson.

Caravan water heaters owners will be pleased to learn that a caravan park could be about to increase its caravan capacity.

According to the Gazette & Herald, the management of the Black Bull Caravan Park in Ryedale, Pickering, have submitted a plan to Ryedale District Council that will attract over 30 tourers to its site by developing a patch of vacant land.

Currently the park houses room for 36 static caravans and 75 tent pitches, but it is felt grassland situated nearby can be adapted to accommodate more holidaymakers between the March and October season.

Council officers told the newspaper the expansion would give local tourism a boost and would benefit other businesses in the area. They also said that more caravans would not pose a threat to the area or cause traffic problems.

"The caravans will be located some 200 metres back from the entrance to the site and there is an existing hedge across the width of the site, which will further screen the vans from view," they told the news provider.

Caravan water heaters owners will also like to know that a similar plan has been proposed at a site in Spittal. Elm Bank Coastal Retreat wants to increase its caravans by 40 per cent.
