Caravan sites 'invite people to stay for Olympic Torch tour'

Posted by Linda Davidson

Caravanners with Whale caravan taps may like to schedule their travel plans to follow the Olympic Torch Relay, which has been organised for next year.

Following the announcement of the route earlier this month, campsites have put schedules in place to allow visitors to come and stay in the hope of catching a glimpse of the torch being exchanged.

The torch will set off from Land's End on May 19th and embark on a journey around many of the UK's top landmarks, before arriving at the Olympic Stadium in London.

Holidaymakers who want to see the torch at its first stop before the start of the country-wide marathon can stay at the Sennen Cove site at Land's End for the perfect view of the action.

Bob Hill, the club's site director, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer a number of campsites in locations close to the Relay Route and we hope all campers take advantage of this unique opportunity."

He added that the sighting of the torch will be a unique experience for those travelling to see it.

The 2012 Games takes place from July 27th until August 12th.
