Caravanners urged to take extra care in high winds

Posted by Greg Throughton

Caravanners travelling to caravan sites this weekend have been urged to take extra care as high winds have been forecast to continue sweeping the nation.

The Met Office in partnership with the Highways Agency has issued a severe weather warning across some parts of the UK as gusts of up to 80mph have been predicted in north-west England and Wales.

Highways Agency advice has urged motorists towing caravans to take extra care when travelling due to the increased risk of vehicles being blown over.

Drivers have also been encouraged to plan their journeys before they set out, checking the forecast and road conditions, to leave extra time for their journeys if travel conditions are poor, and to delay their journey if the weather becomes severe.

The roads across the UK are constantly being monitored by the Highways Agency to ensure they remain safe to drive on, but the agency is encouraging motorists to use their own common sense.

Earlier this week, Kwik Fit revealed that millions of drivers are being affected by wintery conditions during the morning rush hour.
