Caravanning remains popular

Posted by Linda Davidson

Caravan rooflights owners looking to get away this year may have to book early as caravanning is as popular as ever, the National Caravan Council (NCC) has claimed.

According to the organisation holidaying in the UK remains popular with many Brits and it predicts that staycationing will remain strong in 2011.

Alicia Dunn, deputy director general of the NCC, said: "The value that caravanning can offer is definitely attractive to both the family market and the 'grey tourist' in difficult economic times."

She added that air travel suffered a raft of problems in 2010 ranging from increased costs to the inconvenience of strikes, cancellations and diversions.

With the pound remaining comparatively weak and the cost of European holidays rising the UK is proving to be a very popular option, particularly for short breaks.

Caravan rooflights owners looking to staycation this year may wish to plan a trip to the south west in the coming months as the picturesque counties of Devon and Cornwall offer hundreds of excellent sites for caravanners.
