Compare caravan insurance 'cover and prices'

Posted by Linda Davidson

Owners of appliances for your home-from-home have been urged to compare cover as well as prices when taking out insurance.

Paul Scanlon, director of my-caravan-insurance.co.uk, explained that while there is no legal requirement to insure a caravan, it is often among the most valuable assets people will own and so is important to get cover.

"Cover can vary significantly between insurance providers, particularly in respect of cover exclusions and security requirements, and so it is always prudent to compare cover as well as prices," he explained.

Most caravan insurance will cover the vehicle and its contents in the event of fire, theft, vandalism, storm, flood and accidental damage - including road traffic accidents, Mr Scanlon said.

However, he added that some policies will also extend to public liability and alternative accommodation if the damage is caused during a holiday.

Meanwhile, Waynne Smith, senior partner at TorqueCars.com, advised motorists to regularly maintain their cars.
