Drivers must take responsibility for road safety

Posted by Linda Davidson

Every motorist is responsible for their own actions while driving, RoadSafe has told owners of Omnivent caravan rooflights.

His comments were prompted by research from Brake and Direct Line, which revealed that two-thirds of motorists worry about being killed on the road, but only one per cent admitted to being less safe than the average driver.

Furthermore, 98 per cent of those surveyed believed they were as safe or safer than the average road user.

Adrian Walsh, director of RoadSafe, said that everyone on the roads had a "legal and moral requirement" to drive safely.

He said that the guiding principle behind being a safe driver was to share the road with other motorists and be aware of "all aspects of traffic law".

Mr Walsh told drivers and caravanners to "drive carefully, be accident free and research the market" in order to get the best deal on vehicle insurance.
