Durham animal farm welcomes new arrivals

Posted by Freddy Morton

People with caravan accessories like a 12v television planning their next break could consider a trip to Hall Hill Farm in Durham, which has just welcomed its first newborn animals of 2012.

The attraction, which is open daily from April onwards, recently saw two newborn pygmy goats arrive on the scene, with the kids standing at little more than eight inches tall.

Visitor enterprise manager Ann Darlington said the new animals provided "an added bonus" for a business which won small visitor attraction of the year in the 2011 North-East Tourism Awards.

"They are doing very well with their mothers and we have the heat lamps to ensure they stay warm during this cold spell," said Ms Darlington.

The park attracts roughly 60,000 visitors annually and allows children to see a variety of animals as well as enjoy the impressive scenery.

Caravanners thinking about making the trip could stay at Finchale Avenue Touring Park, which overlooks the ruins of a former Benedictine priory.
