Gladiator gets people out and about in County Durham

Posted by Greg Throughton

Caravanners planning a trip to Durham will need to pack their walking boots to get involved in a new Ramblers initiative, Get Walking Keep Walking Durham.

The walking charity will be encouraging the local community and visitors to the area to strap on their walking boots and get out and about with the help of former Gladiator, Diane Youdale, aka Jet.

Weaco caravan refrigeration owners will be able to get involved in a number of free walks led by an expert along interesting routes in the area.

Diane Youdale said: "Walking is a great way to take those first steps to a healthier lifestyle. It can help you lose weight, improve your fitness and importantly make you feel fantastic."

Ramblers' project co-ordinator Marianne Patterson said that the project will help people take those difficult first steps out of their front door.

Following the March 6th launch, group walks led by local experts will start in Barnard Castle, Evenwood, Middleton in Teesdale and Bishop Auckland later in the month.
