Glamping on the rise in Britain

Posted by Freddy Morton

The economic climate and the rise of the staycation have spawned another holiday trend – glamping.

People with Cramer caravan cookers and hobs no longer consider 'roughing it' to be an integral part of a night under canvas, with many now choosing to go for more luxurious camping alternatives that include all the home comforts.

There are a host of locations in the UK which offer glamp sites, or 'glamourous camping' facilities, offering suitable accommodation for even the least outdoorsy types.

Yurts have become a favourite, popping up across the country, with the latest Cool Camping book recommending those at Turkey Creek, Westmoor Farm in Oxfordshire and Long Valley Yurts, Ambleside in Cumbria.

The large tipi-like tents often include a wood burning stove and proper beds, so holiday makers can enjoy a good night's sleep.

Furthermore, a recent poll by Halfords revealed that 50 per cent of Brits are considering a holiday under canvas this year, while bookings at camp sites have increased by 25 per cent on 2010s figures.
