Glastonbury goers trade in tents for caravans

Posted by Greg Throughton

Organisers of the Glastonbury music festival have reported an upsurge in the number of campers trading in their tents for a drier alternative, specialist caravan insurer Safeguard has said.

The company noted that Glastonbury ticket holders will be offered more caravan and motorhome pitches to satisfy demand as music fans plan to beat the weather and take to the open road in campervans, motorhomes and caravans.

Such music lovers may also consider installing Reich caravan taps or a suitable caravan refrigeration system, with Safeguard urging festival goers to ensure they have adequate cover for their possessions.

Rita Sadler, Safeguard manager, said: "Festivals like Glastonbury have been notoriously jinxed with bad weather and campers are gradually wising up to the notion that canvas might not be the best option."

"The benefits of caravanning over camping at festivals are all too apparent when the bad weather hits, and having the facility to have a cup of tea and somewhere dry to sit when it's wet is always a bonus!" she added.

Safeguard's annual caravan insurance policies include cover for personal contents of up to £3,000 for motorhomes and £5,000 for caravans.
