Holgates Caravan Park named best in England

People looking to improve their home from home with new caravan taps or caravan rooflights should take their spruced up caravan to the best park in England.

The Holgates Caravan Park in Silverdale, Lancashire was named best overall campsite of 2011 in the AA Campsite awards, reports the Westmorland Gazette.

In particular the park's scenic grounds, stunning views of Morecambe Bay and "thoughtful facilities", including heated swimming pool and spa, were praised.

Site manager Frank Holgate told the newspaper: "Our grounds are set in an area of outstanding beauty and we do a lot to maintain the overall quality here.

"What is really distinctive about our service is the quality we uphold. We never overcrowd."

Other caravan parks which received accolades from the AA included Linnhe Lochside Holidays in Corpach which was the best site in Scotland, and Plassey Leisure Park in Wrexham which took the gong for Wales.

The Most Improved campsite was the Church Farm Caravan & Camping Park in Sixpenny Handley, Dorset.
