Holidaymakers 'should have appropriate insurance'

Posted by Freddy Morton

People considering a trip away and owners of Propex caravan water heaters planning to book their summer holidays in winter to ward off the January blues have been advised to be sure their insurance policy contains sufficient cancellation cover before doing so.

Independent financial research company Defaqto explained that while most policies will cover holiday cancellation, the degree and style of this cover varies widely between companies.

This means that caravan owners with bookings made in advance can lose a great deal of money if someone in their party were to get ill or they are forced to change their plans for any reason.

"To ensure they get the right type and level of cover to protect their holiday, people need to focus first and foremost on pinpointing the features they need," said Mike Powell, Defaqto's insight analyst for general insurance.

Caravanners and other motorists were advised recently by MoneySupermarket.com that they should attempt to seek out the best deals for car insurance as rising fuel costs made driving increasingly expensive.
