Honda cars 'are best for driving on potholed roads'

Posted by Freddy Morton

Drivers and owners of camper-van devices and accessories such as a 12v television may have suffered damage due to potholes, but according to a new study, Honda vehicles are the most resilient against the craters on UK roads.

Researchers at Warranty Direct, which runs the Potholes.co.uk campaign, found that the Japanese carmaker provides the best models that prevent damage being done to the vehicle when driving over holes in the roads.

Duncan McClure Fisher of Warranty Direct said: "As councils struggle to solve the pothole problem, consumers can at least be smart about their vehicle of choice. We've found some cars have an uncanny ability to absorb the jolts."

The researchers cited Toyota and Hyundai as the next best manufacturers for pothole resistance.

Mr McClure added that winter weather can cause significant damage to the surfaces of carriageways.

However, the Met Office announced yesterday (December 19th) that this winter could see temperatures as high as 14 degrees C over the festive period.
