Let our guests stay longer, caravan park says

Posted by Linda Davidson.

Caravan refrigeration customers will be pleased to learn that
the owners of a caravan site in Bradwell, Maldon, are asking the
local council to change occupancy regulations.

Anyone currently enjoying a stay Eastland Meadows Country Park
can stay for only 28 days due to an occupancy restriction brought
about by Maldon District Council.

The owners of the park have tried before to change the ruling.
Last year they asked the council to repeal the ruling, but were
turned down. That has not stopped them, though, as they are now
appealing the decision.

A government inspector, who will speak to both the owners of
Eastland Meadows and representatives from the council, will be
responsible for the final decision.

Last year the request was rejected because, the news provider
reported, the council felt that relaxing occupancy rules would
"reduce the tourism potential and attractiveness of the site in the
long term and would set an adverse precedent within the district
for other similar caravan parks to respond in a competitive tourist
location".
