Liverpool Museum opens its doors to those seeking cultural days out

Posted by Linda Davidson

A trip to Merseyside to see the Liverpool Museum is one idea for a day out for those with caravan taps this summer.

The facility opened this week and is full of artefacts and history about the city and how its geography, culture and creative and sporting past has helped shape it.

A spokesperson for VisitLiverpool.com, said: "The museum will focus on four main themes of port, creative and sporting history, people and global significance with galleries called The Great Port, Wondrous Place, People’s Republic and Global City. It will open in two phases, the second being towards the end of the year."

She added that more than 6,000 objects will be showcased at the museum, and it is expected to attract around 750,000 visitors each year.

The new facility builds on the success of the previous Museum of Liverpool Life, which closed its doors to the public on Sunday June 4th 2006.
