M6 to get traffic management system

Posted by Greg Throughton

Drivers and those with caravan accessories such as a 12v television who regularly travel along the M6 to reach a holiday destination could see an improvement to congestion as a new scheme has been approved.

Highways construction company Carillion has been given the go-ahead to install a traffic flow management system on the busy motorway in the Midlands that will significantly reduce waiting times.

According to Carillion chief executive Richard Howson, the project will substantially improve the flow of vehicles using the M6.

He said: "We are delighted to have been chosen to work with the Highways Agency as its delivery partner for this latest managed motorway contract."

This project has put Carillion at the forefront of the road maintenance and traffic solutions industry, Mr Howson continued.

Motorists planning to travel through the Midlands in the coming month could also face some delays on the M50 as work to repair the surface of the road takes place from January 9th to February 18th.
