Many taking foreign caravan holidays this bank holiday

Posted by Greg Throughton.

Caravan taps owners will be interested to learn that there could be a large surge in holidaymakers enjoying caravan trips abroad over the coming bank holiday break.

According to ABTA, 1.8 million Britons are expected to head overseas for a spot of relaxation between the 27th and 30th August.

Today will experience the peak of the expected travel, but the weekend as a whole will be very busy.

Beach destinations will be the main hotspots, with the Balearics, Spain, Turkey, Egypt, Cyprus and the Greek islands all favourites.

And those looking for city breaks will enjoy taking in Paris, Amsterdam, Venice and Dublin.

John McEwan, ABTA's chairman, said: "This weekend is the last great getaway of the summer and I am delighted to see that so many customers are taking the opportunity to head off on holidays overseas."

But for those caravan taps owners staying domestic in the coming days, be reassured that some of the UK's most beautiful places are proving popular, too. Accommodation website iknow-uk has reported a rise in enquiries for trips in places like Cornwall, Torquay and Yorkshire.
