More people are taking up caravanning, says expert

Posted by Freddy Morton

The number of individuals and families taking up caravanning, and perhaps showing an interest in van accessories, is on the increase, it has been claimed.

Kim Blythe, public relations executive at the Camping and Caravanning Club, said that people in the UK are beginning to wake up to the beauty and diversity of the UK landscape, as well as the host of attractions across the country.

In addition, she said that in the current climate, the low cost of caravanning holidays has attracted more people.

"You have only got to look at how much it is for a holiday abroad compared to a holiday with a club. It works out a huge amount cheaper. Why go anywhere different when we've got such beautiful countryside around us?" Ms Blythe asked.

Although the current average age of members is now 53, she suggested that this may lower as more families take up the pastime.

Director of Terrys Fabrics, Paul McGuinness, also recently revealed that caravanners are taking a greater interest in the decor of their mobile home.
