Mountain biking on offer for caravanners in the Lakes

Posted by Linda Davidson

The Lake District is a picturesque area, popular with caravan taps owners, which has something to offer everyone.

Now mountain biking enthusiasts have even more reasons to visit as this year will see the first Lake Epic event.

Taking place over two days in May, the event, sponsored by planetFear will cover 110 kilometres of the Lake District's famous mountainous terrain and will prove a challenge for even the most experienced riders.

The ride will begin in Keswick and participants will cover 65 kilometres during the first day before camping for the night and completing the remaining 45 kilometres the next day.

Lucy Bennett, director of Keswick Mountain Festival, said: "We're really excited about the planetFear Lakes Epic – 100 of the best mountain bikers around, England's highest mountains and a hugely challenging course on unforgiving terrain."

For those looking for a less active caravan holiday the Lake District has a number of quaint towns and villages set in beautiful scenery to visit and explore.
