New Zealand 'demands right-hand drives'

Posted by Greg Throughton

Drivers in Australasia who own a Propex caravan water heater may like to buy a right-hand drive car as demand for imports and exports increases.

Online car marketer Autorola UK has reported that more people are paying between £5,000 and £10,000 for the import and sale of right-hand drive vehicles, which have become very popular in New Zealand in recent years.

"For years the import/export sales activity has been very active for the left-hand drive countries, but the steering wheel being on the right has restricted opportunities for UK vendors," said Peter Groftehauge, chief executive officer at the company.

Users of the online selling service can pay for their choice of vehicle and have it sent to their door within six to ten weeks of the deal being completed.

Mr Groftehauge added that ex-fleet commercial vehicles have seen a significant rise in sales.

The most popular fleet vehicle in the UK is the Ford Transit.
