Pre-book MOT tests, caravan accessory owners told

Posted by Linda Davidson

van items and accessories owners face being caught out when it is time for their vehicle's MOT test because they do not book in advance, an organisation has warned.

One in three motorists do not do pre-book the test and so are at risk of being caught out when they reach their expiry date, Kwik Fit has warned.

It also warned that 1.1 million drivers have delayed beyond their MOT due date due to money troubles and the desire to boost the longevity of the new test.

According to police figures, as many as one in ten cars on the UK's roads may be without a valid MOT.

David White, customer services director at Kwik Fit, warned that an MOT is not merely a piece of paper but is an essential way of identifying vehicle defects.

He said: "This allows owners to rectify defects before they cause a problem, enabling them to drive with confidence in the safety of their car."

van items and accessories owners were also recently warned by Tyresafe that now is the time of year where it becomes necessary to start looking for tyres that are suitable in icy conditions.
