Scheme 'to improve roads and customer service' launched

Posted by Linda Davidson

Drivers and those using apparatus for your camper-van such as a 12v television will continue to see road improvements across most of Britain, according to one leading organisation.

The Highways Agency has announced that it is to run a yearly scheme to recognise the best transport and supply firms in the road maintenance sector in order to further drive the high-quality services provided to road users.

Companies will be acknowledged for their good performance and excellent customer service in the hope that this will lead to a "world-class" industry overall.

Graham Dalton, chief executive of the Highways Agency, said: "Our vision is to build on our already world-class reputation, to be recognised as the world's leading road operator; that means working in close partnership with our suppliers."

He added that by driving competition to win recognition, companies will work harder to improve their services.

In the most recent effort to improve the driving experience, caravan owners driving over the festive period may be advised to avoid the M1 at Wakefield. The agency announced plans to start the installation of traffic lights from next week.
