Seaside caravan holidays 'evoke childhood memories'

Posted by Linda Davidson

Caravan taps owners have been told that taking a holiday by the sea has remained popular in Britain as they evoke memories of childhood, according to VisitBritain.

The British Tourist Board said that even in winter the UK's coastal holiday destinations attract crowds with theatre performances, good restaurants and pubs, as well as scenic walks along the coast.

Mark Di-Torro, spokesman for VisitBritain, highlighted that there is simply so much to do on caravan holidays and other breaks by the seaside, which is why people return to destinations year after year.

The comments from VisitBritain will provide a boost for coastal regions in the UK as many tourist towns rely on repeat visitors, particularly during the winter months.

VisitBritain recently announced it would be hosting parties on a number of piers in March to launch British tourism week 2011.

Tourism body One North East has reminded caravan taps owners that the region still has a lot to offer despite currently being blanketed by snow.
