"Liverpool is extremely proud of its two magnificent cathedrals, Anglican and Metropolitan, located at opposite ends of the appropriately named Hope Street," she explained.

The Gothic "Liverpool Cathedral is the largest Anglican cathedral in Britain and fifth largest in the world," she added, and was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, creator of the red telephone box.

She suggested visitors to the city go along to the Tower Experience, which takes tourists to the top of the cathedrals 331ft tower to see breathtaking views.

VisitLiverpool.com also revealed that the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, alongside the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids of Egypt because of its stunning, historic waterfront.
