We have an eleven year old Elddis autoquest 400 motor home that we have not used over the winter. Yesterday the pump for the taps and water gauge would only work when switched to veh mode so we charged the leisure battery overnight in the garage but this still has not charged fully. I see from the receipts included with the sale that this had been a problem in 2009 but the battery was changed and then changed again in 2010. Any suggestions regarding the cause of this and is it a common problem?

This is not a easy question to answer without carrying out tests on the van, if a low quality battery has been fitted this may just be coincidental as the low cost batteries available on the market do tend to fail more frequently. I would suggest fitting a good quality battery with a long guarantee and see if the problem happens again. Alternatively take the van to a caravan service workshop or a auto electrician and have the system and the charger checked
