Question

Hello, I have just ordered a replacement safety pilot valve to fit my Truma S3002 heater. Any tips on easy ways of fitting it. Thanks

Answer

It is impractical to replace the safety pilot on the S3002 fire without removing the fire from the caravan.
Isolate the gas supply and disconnect the fire supply fitting underneath the caravan. Remove the fire cover and undo the screw clamp that secures the flue pipe. Detach the flue pipe. Undo the screws that secure the fire to the floor of the caravan. Carefully lift the fire away making sure that no damage is caused to the flue pipe.
With the fire laid on its side undo the nuts holding the pilot and main burner supply tubes. Carefully detach the thermostat tube and the two wires leading to the automatic igniter (if fitted). The gas valve is held in position by a wire spring clip. Adjust this clip so that the valve can be removed.
Remove the feed pipe from the old valve and fit to the new. Fit the new valve to the fire and secure with the spring clip. ( the valve fits into the baseplate and then slides into position). Locate the thermostat tube and re-attach the wires leading to the igniter. Attach the pilot and main burner tubes.
Position the fire back into position in the caravan and attach the flue connection. A NEW SEALING RING part 131432 MUST BE FITTED.
Re-fit the screws hoding the fire to the floor. Re-attach the gas supply and carry out a gas soundness test.
NOTE - the above procedure should only be carried out by a competant person and a GAS SAFE engineer should be employed to carry out the soundness test.
