Question

How do i fit a new pilot light on my rm 412 fridge fitted in my year 2000 avondale rialto

Answer

I assume that you need to change the burner assembly. The fridge must be removed from its position in the caravan.
1. Turn off the gas supply, mains electric and 12 volt supply.
2. Remove the top exterior vent.
3. Undo the 4 screw that secure the fridge in position. These are accessed from inside the fridge and are covered with plastic caps.
4. pull the fridge forward and undo the gas connection, having ensured that the gas supply is turned off.
5. Pull the fridge fully out ensuring that the electrical wire connections are long enough to facilitate this. If not you will need to disconnect these from the fridge and identify the wires to ensure correct re-connection.
6. Lay the fridge on its front.
7. Remove the metal cover shielding the burner
8. Undo the gas feed pipe to the burner. NOTE once this is undone the burner jet is likely to fall out.
9. Disconnect the burner from the flue pipe (one screw) and allow the burner to drop whilst undoing the screw that secures the igniter and thermocouple.
10. The burner is now free and can be replaced. Ensure that you have the correct replacement burner and replacement jet by checking the Product Code on the data plate inside the fridge. The burner and jet must be ordered against this code.
11. Insert the jet into the gas feed connection on the burner assembly and attach the feed pipe until the nut is finger tight. Ensure that the jet remains in the correct position.
12. Re-attach the igniter and thermocouple.
13. Fit the burner to the flue pipe and finally tighten the gas feed connection.
14. Replace the burner shield and then ease the fridge back into position, re-connecting the electrical wires and gas feed pipe. A smear of suitable gas sealant should be applied to the olive on the gas feed pipe.
15. Fit the four fixing screws and re-attach the ouside vent ensuring that the flue pipe is properly connected.
16. A gas soundness test and a visual check of the flue connection should be carried out by a GAS SAFE engineer
