Question

I have recently bought a campervan the fridge that is in it is Electrolux RM123E, it has only been plumbed into the gas but it is a 3 in 1; when I reinstate the interior of camper I will be connecting it to 12volt and 240volt as well; my question is does it change automatically from 12 to 240 or to gas depending on what is connected to at the time or do I have to do it manually; ie will I need to put switches in for the 12 and 240 volt so that I can switch it to whatever I need at the time.

Answer

The 12 volt on/off switch should already be fitted to the fridge at the bottom. Remember the fridge must be installed such that it only runs on 12 volts when you are travelling otherwise it will flatten your battery in a very short period. You will need to install a seperate fused spur for the 240 volts. The three core mains lead from the fridge has to be wired through the fused spur which should include a 5amp fuse. You have to switch manually between power sources.
