Did Everything That We Expected It To...

I bought this a few weeks before a planned trip through Europe to Morocco, including mountain tracks and days in the desert. I had it plugged in to the mains in my kitchen for a few weeks prior to leaving and it kept the prosecco lovely and cold. We tried out the app, but we never really used it once it was installed in the Defender. In the Defender it fitted nicely behind the passenger seat and worked surprisingly well without drawing too much from the battery. We do have a solar cell topping up the coach battery but even when this wasnt working the fridge would run for a couple of days on a standard 70Ah battery. Despite getting a good battering during our travels with shaking and rattling, getting thoroughly coated in Saharan dust and generally being abused, it was still purring (very quietly) away and keep our beers and food cold.
The only slight criticism is that the air doesnt circulate very well inside, so the part of it nearest the back/base can be frozen while the other end is about 4-5 degrees, but if you know this then its advantageous to be able to keep the fizz well chilled while the salads and veggies are just cool.
I would definitely buy one of these again, but may be tempted to go for the next size up as this one proved so useful!
Cool!

Liked everything about it. Yes, might be regarded as small inside but it is a sturdy classy piece of equipment, does it’s job in terms of storing an evenings food and drink when camping. Needs electric hook up facility at campsite though as there would not be enough charge from the car. Love it and believe it is worth the expense in the long run.
We won’t forget it ......the Dometic, cools the beer the food and wine, it meets our needs perfectly fine! Recommend without shadow of a doubt. Mrs Williams

Worth The Money, Great Little Fridge
by Hazel.h (23 Aug 2019)

Great portable fridge for when we go away camping, I did wait until there was a deal to be had as they are very expensive, even with the deal it was still expensive but to have the option of a fridge and freezer when you’re away for a couple of weeks is great and we also use it at home as an overflow fridge if needed.
Energy Efficient & Great Quality

The quality of the fridge feels fantastic - the lip clip closes securely, and the construction overall is great.
Cools quickly on both 12v and 240v.
I don't have numbers to back it up, but I was able to run this for 3 days on a 120 AH battery. It would have last longer, but the battery was charged anyway.
Brilliant

Excellent service all round. Fridge is amazing. Quiet and cools down quickly. We had in our tent on electric hook up and did not notice any noise. Perfect choice and though expensive it is worth every penny...

Quality Fridge, Quality Materials

Fridge looks very smart. This is made with nothing but the best quality materials and I’m sure it’ll last me years. I’ve fit it in my campervan. It should work for 24 hours before it drains my 90Ah battery. Lots of space. Will probably hold 6 days worth of food for me and my girlfriend. Given it 5 stars overall because although it is a very expensive investment, I hope it’ll be worth the money in the long run.

The Best Travel Fridge Ever.

If you have a car you will struggle with this one, however if you have a larger vehicle it’s ideal.
Used it in hotel rooms as well and it looks good wherever it is.
Lift the lid and it’s like opening the door to Narnia, it holds a lot.

This is the 32ltr CFX 35W with 18 440ml cans, there's still plenty of room left for other essentials like bacon.
It's pricey but I'm very happy with it!
Portable Freezer - Dometic
by Dirk (10 Aug 2018)

Currently using this at home re additional freezer space, at -20 deg C setting. Performance outdoors on 12 VDC supply still to be tested. Insulation is good, but not perfect, so I'm using a thermal blanket. I have verified the internal temperatures with a temperature logger. The minimum temperature is achievable after several hours.
Good quality finishes, but a rather expensive item.

Boat 24v Systems And 12v Also Its Perfect For Boat Use
by Sailing2 (20 Jul 2018)

Purchased this for use on my yacht as a supplement to an already large fridge. I will use it as a freezer for longer passages. The unit selects power based on availability and has battery protection logic built in. With the ability to run from Genset at 240v, boat 24v systems and 12v also its perfect for boat use. The amps and current draw is minimal as this is a highly efficient chiller and well insulated quality manufactured unit. Highly recommended.

Brilliant Piece Of Kit!

We bought this after much deliberation as an overflow fridge or freezer for our motorhome, or for when the fitted absorption fridge could not cool sufficiently due to high ambient temperatures abroad (compressor fridges will cool regardless). There are huge price differences available online, but this was by far the cheapest we found for this size. We found some suppliers were selling larger ones for less than they quoted for the smaller models, and we were tempted but decided that this was the ideal size for our purpose and was cheaper again from this seller (we paid £494 but the price seems to fluctuate). The fridge arrived on a Sunday within 48 hours of being ordered, so no complaints there. It is the later Dometic badged Waeco item as shown and described.
It is simplicity itself to set up, literally just un-wrap, plug in, and it works! Within twenty minutes of switching on it had reduced the inside temperature from 20o C to 4o C and maintained that consistently since within 1o. There really is very little to set up, choose your required temperature and you are away. Or you can set an alarm to sound if the temperature varies between specified amounts. Or even set it so that it switches off at one of three voltages before draining your battery. There is even an option to connect it by wi-fi to an app on your mobile so that you can monitor/adjust settings remotely. Everything is easy to set up and there is a well written manual to explain things if required.
The 35-litre size will give storage for two people for a few days quite easily. And being so electrically efficient, it can easily run from solar panels during the day, and a decent leisure battery will last easily overnight making them ideally suited for going off grid.
This is a pricey piece of equipment, but top quality and built to last. With price in mind, we found it definitely pays to shop around as there does seem to be huge differences – at the time of writing this the typical price for the 35 was £

Buy One, Go Camp...

First used this on a trip to Morocco in May. Easily maintained -22°C in the car at external temps >30°C.
Small section above motor is less cold than main compartment and kept milk/beer/tonic water cold and liquid even when main comparment was frozen solid.
Robust carry handles make it easy to carry into hotels and run on mains voltage when not camping.
The owners manual refers to an optional fixing bracket but I could not source one in the UK.
Tremendous Camping Fridge
by Phil S (31 Jul 2017)

The perfect camping fridge. I have 200 watts of solar panel on my old camper van but still struggled to run one of the cheaper fan type cool boxes as the current drain was too high. I bought the CFX-35 on the recommendation of a friend and absolutely love it. It draws less than an amp (often a lot less) and I can happily run it 24 hours a day from my leisure battery and the solar panels mean I end each day with full batteries. So job done in terms of usability off grid. The CFX will chill down to -20oC if you want to use it as a freezer and easily holds 3oC for nice cold beer. It can be controlled via a phone app if you wish but its just as easy to operate from the front panel. You can set the level at which it stops drawing current to protect your battery so you don't drain your starter battery too far if you are running it off that or run it far longer if you have a leisure battery. The Waecos are a lot of money but my only regret is not buying one sooner
