5 Technical Questions on the Truma Ultrastore Heating Element 850watt

Question

 on

Answer

Question

Why would trip switch on consumer unit and site hook up trip when I switch on the Ultrastore
 on

Answer

The electric heater in the Ultrastore has a 'short circuit' and needs replacing. this will be part 126570

Question

Has anyone got any instructions on how to replace the element in a Truma 10L water heater. The only number I can find on the heater is US103-1723007. I have a 2008Swift Charisma 540 caravan. Will any element for a 10L Truma water heater fit in mine as I need to order a replacement element. Hope someone can help.
 on

Answer

The heating element that you require is our ref. 126570. If you peel back the card board housing you will see that the heater and thermostat are secured with four small nuts in total. You will need a suitable box spanner to undo these. Some blue-tack in the socket may prevent you dropping the nuts as they reach the end of the thread.
Detach the mains cable at the in-line connector. The new element does not come with a connector on the cable so you will need to install a new terminal box. Get this checked by an electrician.

Question

I have a 2004 Caravan fitted with a Truma Ultrastore rapid Gas/Electric Storage Heater Serial No US 103-14167241, The fault with It keep blowing the fuse out .I have disconnected from the power, And the power in the Caravan is OK then, Question do I need a replacement water element ? Its a 850 watts if so can you supply one a what is the cost? Kind Regards Ron Robinson
 on

Answer

It is most likely that you need a new heater element. This is our ref. 126570 at £70.34.

Question

the truma water heater produces excessively hot water. Cannot put hands into so hot. Would it be the overheat stat. Only does on electric gas work ok.
 on

Answer

If you are referring to the Truma Ultrastore water heater then the overheat stat is part of the immersion heater assembly, part 126570 or 119026 for older heaters.

The Truma Ultrastore Heating Element 850 Watt is easy to fit. Replacing the original (12 seasons caravanning before failure) A well made part Rather expensive for a glorified kettle element

Ultrastore 850W Heating Element - Fitting

by Alan (25 Sep 2015)

Delivered promptly. Fitting instructions good. Easily fitted but purchasers should note that required electrical connections in the heater system may require removal and re-use of the terminal junction. Joins made should be soldered and properly insulated. Works OK.

Heating Element - Review

by Jimbo (13 Jul 2015)
5 star review(5/5)
Excellent price. 1st. class service. Need to follow instructions on fitting which do not come with the product. So use technical Toms, do not drop nuts just in case have a magnet handy on a piece of string. Use 20 amp choc block connector to reconnect wiring as product is not fitted with a push fit connector. Ring spanners don't work so you need 5.5 mm and 7 mm sockets for access. Easy enough job but don't rush it. I have been unable to test the system as I fitted this whilst the caravan was in storage.

Truma Ultrastore 850 W Heating Element Review

by Mr Burt (09 Jun 2014)
5 star review(5/5)
Had to buy this to replace the one in our van that stopped working last year for some reason. That one in turn had only lasted for a year but that could have been down to it having been poorly fitted at an approved caravan maintenance centre (beyond the scope of this review) It was a straightforward job to replace and comes with a new O-ring seal and 2 replacement nuts for the element. I have 2 gripes - 1 minor and 1 major. Minor gripe - new nuts for the thermostat aren't supplied which is a shame as they are very small and easy to lose. Major gripe - its exorbitant, rip-off price! You can get 3 domestic heating elements for your hot water tank at home for the price of one of these (4 if you go to some sites who charge over £100 for one)

Very prompt and impressive service. The element is very fiddly to fit. It would help if appropriate size sockets were available as an optional extra.

Truma Ultrastore Heater Element

by Meninspex (20 Jul 2013)
5 star review(5/5)
Good product, easy to fit but a b****r to find the exact location of (new nuts provided for the element but not for the thermostat so don't bin the old ones - element nuts 7mm; thermostat nuts 5.5mm). None of the published data shows the location of the electric heater element. It's between the water connections btw and I had to take a Stanley knife to the casing to find it! I needed a new one because the thermostat had failed even though the element and the overheat trip were still working but it would only reset once the whole heater had gone cold.

The immersion element in my Truma Ultrastore water heater developed an earth leakage fault which blew the tripswitch in my motorhome. I found a genuine Truma relacement at Leisureshopdirect, ordering was quite straightforward and delivery prompt. I replaced the part and it worked perfectly............Thanks very much, excellent service.
