The Vango Cove III Mid is a front-facing driveaway awning that attaches to the side of your campervan or motorhome, giving you an extra living space that faces the same direction as your vehicle. This setup means you get the view rather than staring at your van, plus it offers more privacy from neighbouring pitches. The awning connects through multiple methods including pre-attached 6mm kador beading, over-vehicle straps, roof bar tabs, and a pole-clamp sleeve system, so it works with most campervans. You can disconnect and drive off using the roll-away tunnel, which toggles back neatly whilst you're out exploring. Two doors in the tunnel section give access to both front and rear vehicle doors.
Built from Sentinel Active 75D fabric with a 3,000mm hydrostatic head rating, the Cove III Mid uses lightweight Powerflex fibreglass poles that keep the pack size manageable. The sewn-in groundsheet stops draughts and bugs getting in, whilst diamond clear windows let plenty of light through. There's a pre-attached front canopy for shelter when you're sat outside, and the flat-threshold doors make getting in and out straightforward with wheelchairs or prams. Extra ventilation panels help airflow on warmer days, and you can add a two-person or four-person bedroom pod if needed (sold separately as BR001 or BR005). The TBS II tension band system braces the poles at three points to stop sideways flex in wind, and you can adjust or stow the bands depending on conditions.
The Cove III Mid Awning is ideal for touring and weekend breaks, offering quick setup, reliable weather protection, and easy handling for on-the-go campers. Designed for flexible adventures rather than long-term seasonal use, it performs best during holidays or short stays, with durable fabric rain tested to EN ISO 5912 for dependable shelter in typical British weather. Bright orange pegging markers and high-visibility guylines make pitching simple and safer at night, while strong steel pegs ensure stability and an oversized carry bag makes packing away effortless. Toggled privacy curtains let you adjust light and privacy levels, creating a comfortable, adaptable space for every trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
Front-facing means the awning attaches to the side of your campervan rather than the back, so the entrance faces the same direction as your vehicle windscreen. This layout gives you the view instead of facing your van, and provides more privacy from neighbouring pitches because the side of your campervan acts as a screen.
Yes, the Cove III Mid comes with multiple attachment methods including 8 metre over-vehicle straps, roof bar tabs, and a sleeve for pole and clamp kits. The 6mm kador beading slides into an awning rail if you have one fitted, but if your campervan has no rail you can use the straps that go over the roof or attach to roof bars. A separate pole and clamp kit can also be purchased to create an attachment point.
The tunnel section that connects to your vehicle rolls back and secures with toggles, leaving the main awning free-standing whilst you drive off. When you return, you park in roughly the same spot and reconnect the tunnel to your campervan. This works because the awning has its own poles and sewn-in groundsheet, so it stays upright without being attached to the vehicle.
The Cove III Mid takes either the Vango BR001 two-person bedroom or the BR005 four-person bedroom. Both clip into the awning and create separate sleeping space if you have guests staying or want to keep your sleeping area away from the living space. These bedrooms are sold separately and hang from toggles inside the awning.
The Cove III Mid is designed for touring and weekend trips rather than seasonal pitching. Leaving any awning up for months exposes the fabric to continuous UV degradation and weathering, which shortens its lifespan. This awning performs best when used for holidays and shorter breaks, then packed away between trips. If you need something for permanent site use, a seasonal awning with heavier duty fabric would be a better choice.
TBS II is Vango's Tension Band System that braces each pole at three points to stop sideways movement in wind. The bands wrap around the poles and peg out separately, creating a triangle of tension that keeps the pole stable. You can adjust them to remove slack or stow them away completely in calm conditions. This system helps the awning handle gusts better than poles alone.
Yes, the awning includes steel pegs and high-visibility guylines. The guylines are brightly coloured to reduce trip hazards in low light, and key pegging points are marked with orange tabs to show you which pegs to put in first when pitching. The steel pegs handle most ground types, though you might want rock pegs for very hard ground or longer pegs for soft sand.
The Sentinel Active 75D fabric has a hydrostatic head rating of 3,000mm, which means it handles heavy rain without leaking. The awning has been tested to EN ISO 5912 standard, confirming it works in typical wet and windy camping weather. The sewn-in groundsheet has a storm skirt around the base that keeps water from running underneath, and the seams are factory sealed.
