Originally conceived by yachtsmen, David ‘Trotski’ Trotter, for use when sailing in rough seas, muggi is a new and safe way to carry hot and cold drinks. Made from a lightweight but super tough Polypropylene material, it’s designed so that it’s light and easy to carry, but also strong and secure. muggi holds your mugs, glasses or cups in four precision moulded slots. muggi is just as useful for a host of outdoor occasions, from camping to working on site; enjoying a music festival to relaxing in your garden.

Who Invented the Muggi?
David Trotter (Trotski to his sailing mates) is a former Highland soldier, high flying executive with one of the world’s leading event companies, owner of the UK’s leading treehouse design and construction company, and serial inventor and entrepreneur.

Whatever he does – he draws on this diversity of experience to bring a fresh perspective and radical, different thinking. It’s how he came up with muggi, and his next project, which is near to launch and which he believes is going to revolutionise the market for portable structures at up-market outdoor (and indoor) events.

More about the man…

He’s also a former high flying executive with the world’s leading event company, Imagination, organising huge events all over the world for the likes of BT, Ford and Microsoft.

But after 9 or 10 years he’d had enough of the corporate life, London, endless airports, and so on. He gave it all up, and moved his young family to the middle of nowhere in Wiltshire with not a clue how he was going to earn a living.

Now, Trotski runs Britain’s leading treehouse design and construction company, Squirrel Design - so how did he get into the treehouse business? Similar to the way he got into muggi – a chance event, which after years of highly organised events was a welcome change. Someone mentioned they wanted a treehouse. Trotski said he could build them one – and was certain that he could. A week later – and many, many hours in his workshop – his wife Sarah had designed, and he had built a rather special treehouse. Special enough for friends and neighbours to ask for their own.

“I think there’s a business in this” he said, and now they run Britain’s leading treehouse design and construction company. Not quite as simple as that, of course, but they’ve created a fantastic business that comes with a great lifestyle. Always different projects, different challenges, and never enough time to go sailing.

But David can’t stop himself inventing. muggi is just one of his inventions. Another is about to be launched that is going to revolutionise the market for portable structures at up-market outdoor (and indoor) events.

I have a mobility problem and find it difficult to carry one drink without spilling it! Can use Muggi to carry 4 drinks safely. However, it doesn’t carry larger mugs or cups hence 4 stars not five!

Brilliant gadget - we use one on the narrowboat and at home. Perfect for carrying up to 4 mugs or glasses leaving one hand free for steadying when walking up steps, stairs etc. not suitable for large mug with base diameter of 95mm though. When there are just 2 of us, we put our mugs in 2 of the spaces and our snacks in the other 2!

Absolutely brilliant! After two bad spills I thought that such a thing must exist... and quickly found it on Amazon. Being elderly, my wife an I struggle at times when carrying a couple of coffee mugs and something else e.g. a phone upstairs. This just solves the problem - it takes, as you can see, 4 mugs, which may be a bit heavy for me or my wife, but for a couple of mugs and the phone it balances well enough to be held in one hand while climbing stairs with a hand free for the bannister. As I said: brilliant.

Ah, where has this perfect little item been all my life?
Carrying cups of hot drinks as a tetra has always been a challenge. Not anymore. I can carry 2 cuppas, a packet of biscuits and my phone all in one hand and work the wheelchair with the other.

Saw this on telly and just had to have one, so handy for taking the tea upstairs in the morning and taking mugs outside for a cuppa in the garden too. There is nothing to dislike about this item. I have arthritis and I find this a godsend for carrying cups and mugs safely. I can grip it easily and it is stable. I have bought one for my sister who is in her 80's after she had an accident with a mug of tea on her stairs trying to carry it upstairs and she has high praise for it and makes life easier for her. I've also bought one for our camper as well, Really pleased with my purchase. Maybe one with say 6 cup compartments would be nice.

With 4 full cups it was a bit heavy with one hand for me but that's more my problem than the muggy but still I could carry two full cups with ease and still use my stick and felt safe...it was sturdy doesnt tip...I would certainly recommend it.

If you regularly get hot drinks from a nearby cafe or try and carry mugs of hot drinks up and down stairs, etc this will be the product for you.

Although it is plastic it is very "green" because it will last for years and will replace the use-once cardboard cup holders from coffee houses. Cups or mugs fit neatly in the four holes and a slot for the handle means they don't slip around and spill.

Also ideal for those who find things tend to shake about a bit.

If you've ever tottered from the kitchen to other areas of the house (indoor or outdoor, sober or otherwise), you'll know what a precarious journey it can be carrying the cups on a tray. Especially if you have to encounter any steps or pets en route to your destination. This is where the Muggi wins hands down.
Four, cups, mugs, or glasses fit comfortably in each slot and unless you do a somersault, they'll not budge. Better still, if you only make three or less drinks, it leaves room to carry the all important biscuits for dunking. (I'll leave it up to you to decide which is best at that task!).

These are a great purchase for elderly relatives too. Not overly distinctive on the picture, but there are indentations on the top surface which aid as a grip, plus of course the moulding on the underside gives the option of holding it as a tray, or just in one hand. A great item for everyday use....now where did I put that cup of coffee..!

I don't often write reviews but this is such a good product. Bought it when we moved offices and had to negotiate steps and fire doors between the kitchen and desk. This will hold 4 decent sized mugs and even someone as clumsy as me can get them back to their recipient one-handed and without spillage.

We bought our Muggi to store mugs in our camper van, does the job well. We have done some modifications to ours and made the slots for the handles on the same side so the muggi now fits tight up to the cupboard wall good product

Our Muggi is a very unusual but effective little cup carrier. Holds majority of sized mugs, but not the really wide base ones. Does hold them more secure and steady than a normal tray

This has all the hallmarks of a properly made item. The plastic is solid, its nicely finished and the four properly made rubber feet not just stick-on rubbish but well made pieces of rubber that are recessed into the corners. I suspect this has been made for people who demand quality (like hospitals, professional cares etc). Nice job.

Such a simple idea, but great. Nice and sturdy little item. Much better than a tray to take out into the garden. Got a feeling someone will make them cheaper quite soon, but I'll bet they won't be as strong. Thrilled to see it's British too!
