  Product Description
The Dometic RCL 10.4EP is a 12V compressor fridge freezer for motorhomes, caravans and campervans with a tall, narrow kitchen recess. It measures 420mm wide by 1293mm high by 595mm deep, holds 157 litres and weighs 32kg. The single door is double-hinged, so it opens to the left or the right with no parts to swap over, and there's a full-height aluminium handle down each side. Dometic finish the cabinet in anthracite black and leave the front flat, ready for a decor panel between 1.2mm and 3mm thick.

Moving from absorption to compressor cooling changes the day to day routine. There's no gas line to connect and no need to sit level before the fridge pulls the temperature down, so it keeps working on a sloping pitch and on the road. Power comes from a 12V DC feed off the habitation battery, which suits solar and lithium installations well. The internal ventilation system draws air through the front of the cabinet, so a new installation needs no ventilation grilles cut into the outside wall.

The freezer compartment lifts out when you want the full cabinet height for chilled food, and its own door is double-hinged in the same way as the main one. Below it sits the Veggie Fresh crisper, with adjustable humidity and a lid doubling as an extra shelf. Dometic's 2026 New for Old swap guide lists the RCL 10.4EP as the replacement for the RML 8330, RML 9330, RML 9331 and RML 9335. The RML 9430, RML 9431 and RML 9435 use the same fridge with adapter kit 9600025974. The RCL 10.4EP also supersedes the RCL 10.4ET, SKU 9600049608. Unit size stays 420mm wide by 1293mm high by 595mm deep, so measure your existing aperture against those figures before ordering.
What is the difference between the Dometic RCL 10.4EP and the RCL 10.4ET?
The RCL 10.4EP, SKU 9620023676, is the current model and takes over from the RCL 10.4ET, SKU 9600049608. Cabinet size stays identical at 420 x 1293 x 595mm, and the double-hinged door, removable freezer compartment and VG Fresh crisper carry across unchanged. The control panel is the visible difference. The RCL 10.4ET used a TFT screen with a turn and push knob, and the RCL 10.4EP uses an LED display mounted inside the cabinet, out of sight once the door is shut.
Does the Dometic RCL 10.4EP run on gas?
The RCL 10.4EP is a 12V compressor fridge, so it runs from a 12V DC supply off the habitation battery with no gas connection involved. It holds its set temperature while you drive, on a sloping pitch and on solar or lithium power. Use the cable size and fuse rating given in the Dometic installation manual, because a compressor draws a short current spike on start up and thin cabling designed for an absorption fridge is undersized for the job.
Do I need external vents fitted for the Dometic RCL 10.4EP?
No. The RCL 10.4EP uses an internal ventilation system drawing air through the front of the cabinet, so a new installation needs no ventilation grilles in the outside wall. Dometic still ask for 15mm to 25mm clearance between the back of the fridge and the vehicle wall, on top of the 595mm depth. Wall vents left in place from an old absorption fridge are blanked off or covered as part of the swap.
Does the Dometic RCL 10.4EP need to be level to cool properly?
Compressor refrigeration works at an angle, so the RCL 10.4EP keeps cooling on an unlevel pitch and on the move. Absorption fridges rely on gravity to circulate the coolant and need the vehicle close to level. Dometic rate the 10 series compressor range for cooling and deep freezing down to minus 12 degrees while operating on an angle, which is one of the main practical gains when swapping from a three way fridge.
What space do I need to fit the Dometic RCL 10.4EP?
The unit measures 420mm wide, 1293mm high and 595mm deep, and weighs 32kg. Add 15mm to 25mm behind the fridge for the clearance Dometic specify to the vehicle wall. Where the new fridge sits lower than the one it replaces, feet fitted to the base take up the height difference.
